Trigger Warning: Automatonophobia

I made this game in 2022 primarily as a sound-design showcase at the time, so it might be a little janky here and there, but it is a complete experience running about 15-20 minutes once you get the hang of it. I've chipped away at plenty of private projects before, but never released anything aside from a demo in a game jam, so this is my first real release! I hope you enjoy it and get a few good spooks.

TIPS & TRICKS 
  • The game starts with the red mannequin pursuing you from the moment you collect the first page, followed by the white mannequin after you've collect a few keys/pages, then the black mannequin after several more keys/pages. The exact quantities depend on the difficulty.
  • Your handy-dandy NOTEPAD automatically keeps track of which rooms you have keys for, and will automatically cross off a room once you've found everything inside it. The "Basement" includes all rooms within it.
    • All key and page locations (except for the first of each in the Warden's office) are randomized to prevent memorizing any specific route on each playthrough.
    • You don't need to memorise the password. I considered putting in a number pad on the final door (requiring player input), but currently it's just fluff - Once you have all 10 pages, the door is unlocked.
  • The RED MANNEQUIN will constantly move towards you. Shine your torch directly in its face until it scampers away. It will head to the furthest corner of the map from you, and wait for a brief cooldown.
    • This mannequin is pretty straight forward. Prioritising shooing it away will make dealing with the next 2 easier.
  • The WHITE MANNEQUIN only moves when you're not looking in its direction, and you can gauge its distance from you by paying attention to how fast your heart is beating.
    • Backing into rooms, or kiting it from one side of the asylum to the other is a good way to keep your distance and give you some breathing room. This is the primary tactic I'd recommend memorizing, as it'll give you the most leeway for dealing with the other 2 mannequins.
  • The BLACK MANNEQUIN will creep into your field of view intermittently. The moment you see it (or hear it breathing), light your lighter to scare it away. It will then be on cooldown until you hear the ominous "I'm back" sound - which means it can now creep up on you again at any moment.
    • Keep on top of shooing the red mannequin away as written above, and don't let yourself get backed into a corner so this mannequin doesn't catch you off-guard. Better hope that lighter doesn't fail on you!
